How to Write Booking Type Descriptions and Questions with AI
Generate booking type descriptions and intake questions with TidyCal AI from the booking type editor. Available on Individual Lifetime, Pro and Agency Lifetime.
Overview
TidyCal includes AI-powered content generation that helps you create compelling booking type descriptions and relevant pre-meeting questions. The AI analyzes your booking type title and optional context to generate tailored content.
Plan requirement: AI features are available on Individual Lifetime, Pro and Agency Lifetime. On the Free Plan the generate button is disabled and an upgrade link appears beneath it.
Generating Booking Type Descriptions
- Go to Booking types in the sidebar navigation (see How to Create and Manage Booking Types in TidyCal).
- Create a new booking type or click an existing one to edit.
- Enter a title for your booking type (minimum 3 characters).
- In the description field, click the "Generate with AI" button.
- The button will change to "Generating..." while the AI creates your description.
- A 2-3 sentence description is generated and replaces whatever is currently in the Description field, so copy any text you want to keep first.
- Edit the generated text as needed, then save your booking type.
Note: Descriptions are limited to 800 characters and may include basic HTML formatting (bold, italic, paragraphs).
Generating Pre-Meeting Questions
The AI can suggest intake questions that bookers answer when they book.
- In the booking type editor sidebar, expand Advanced, then click Questions.
- Turn on Enable questions to attendees., then click Generate questions with AI (next to Add another question).
- The AI suggests up to 3 questions tailored to your booking type and adds them to the end of your list.
- Generated questions are added as Short text, Paragraph or Radio (Yes/No) questions and are optional. Change the answer type or mark a question required afterwards if you need to.
- Review the generated questions and remove or modify any that do not fit your needs.
Note: If you already have questions, TidyCal skips any suggested question that matches one you already have.
Tips for Best Results
- Use a descriptive title: The more specific your booking type title, the better the AI output. "30-Minute Marketing Strategy Consultation" produces better results than "Meeting".
- Add context: If you have already filled in the duration, price, or partial description, the AI uses this context to generate more relevant content.
- Edit after generating: AI-generated content is a starting point. Customize it to match your voice and specific requirements.
- Regenerate if needed: Click Generate with AI again for a new description (it replaces the current one). Clicking Generate questions with AI again adds more questions rather than replacing the first set, so delete the ones you do not want.

If your plan does not include AI features, the Generate with AI button is greyed out and a link reading "Unlock AI description generation by upgrading" appears below it. The AI question generator is hidden entirely on those plans.
Troubleshooting
AI button shows upgrade message
- AI features require a paid plan — Individual Lifetime, Pro or Agency Lifetime. Upgrade from Settings → Your plan.
Error about title
- Enter a title with at least 3 characters before clicking the generate button.
Generation taking too long
- AI generation may take up to 30 seconds. If it times out, try again.
- If the issue persists, contact support@tidycal.com.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I edit AI-generated content?
Yes. Generated descriptions and questions are fully editable. The AI provides a starting point that you can customize.
Can I use AI for team booking types?
Yes. You can generate AI content for your own booking types and for team booking types where you are a member. Generation uses your own plan, so you need Individual Lifetime, Pro or Agency Lifetime yourself.
What information is sent to the AI?
Only the booking type details in the editor (title, description, duration, and price with its currency) plus your name, time zone and language. Booker details and bookings are never sent.
Can I connect an AI assistant to my TidyCal account?
