Connect AI Assistants to TidyCal with MCP

Connect an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to TidyCal using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Once connected, the assistant can read your TidyCal scheduling data to answer questions in plain language. Available on any paid plan.

Overview

MCP is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect securely to outside tools. The TidyCal MCP server gives an AI client read-only access to your scheduling data, so you can ask things like "What bookings do I have this week?" or "When am I free on Friday?" and get answers from your real TidyCal account.

  • Read-only: the assistant can view your data but cannot create, change, or cancel anything.
  • Secure sign-in: you authorize access with OAuth — you never paste an API key into the assistant.
  • Plan: any paid plan (Individual, Pro, or Agency). Not available on the Free Plan.

What the Assistant Can Read

Through the MCP connection, an assistant can look up:

  • Your account details
  • Your teams
  • Your booking types
  • Available times for a booking type
  • Your busy times
  • Your bookings (within a date range)
  • Your locations

It cannot make or modify bookings, change settings, or take any action on your account — access is strictly read-only.

How to Connect

  1. In an MCP-capable AI client (such as Claude or ChatGPT), add a new MCP server or connector.
  2. Enter the TidyCal MCP endpoint: https://tidycal.com/mcp
  3. When prompted, sign in to TidyCal and authorize access. TidyCal uses secure OAuth, so your password and API keys are never shared with the assistant.
  4. Once authorized, ask the assistant questions about your schedule.

Troubleshooting

"TidyCal Pro is required" / access denied

The MCP server requires a paid plan (Individual, Pro, or Agency). If you’re on the Free Plan, upgrade to connect — see Upgrading Your TidyCal Plan.

The connection won’t authorize

  • Make sure you complete the sign-in and approval step in the browser window your AI client opens.
  • Confirm your AI client supports remote MCP servers over OAuth.
  • If it still fails, contact support@tidycal.com.
