How do time zones work in TidyCal?

TidyCal is designed to handle time zones automatically, so you don't have to. The goal is simple: the time a client picks is the time the meeting happens in their local browser time zone, and the time you see on your calendar is the correct time in your local time zone.

How TidyCal Detects Time Zones

  • For Your Clients: When a client visits your booking page, TidyCal automatically detects their time zone based on their browser/computer settings. The availability they see is always presented in their own local time. For example, if you are in New York (EST) and set your availability to 9:00 AM, a client in Los Angeles (PST) will see that slot offered to them as 6:00 AM.
  • For You: Your TidyCal account has a primary time zone setting. When a client books a meeting, the new event is added to your connected calendar in your correct local time.

This process ensures that a "9:00 AM" meeting for the client is the same moment in time as the "12:00 PM" meeting that appears on your calendar if you are 3 hours ahead.

How to Check or Change Your Time Zone

It's important to ensure your own TidyCal account is set to the correct time zone.

  1. From your TidyCal Dashboard, click on Settings.
  2. You will find a Time Zone dropdown menu.
  3. Verify that the selected time zone is correct. If not, you can select the right one from the list.
  4. Click Save Changes.

What happens if my time zone was set incorrectly? If you had the wrong time zone set and then corrected it, any new bookings made after the change will be correct. However, bookings that were made before you corrected it might be at the wrong time on your calendar. You may need to manually reschedule those with your clients.
